Lev Vygotsky suggests that students learn better in collaborative situations where they are mentored by learners or adults….

every student has ability and capability, the idea here is to have them enter a higher level of thinking and learning.  Vygotsky called this the Zone of Proximal Development, and it is an idea I cling to and believe has some of the greatest potential in the contemporary classroom that can make students increase their understanding and learning of any subject

With all of that said, lets be honest, some of our kids have limits, whether they are social or cognitive the will rear their heads to impede their learning.  Because of this the role of the teacher in a collaborative environment is essential.  The teacher/instructor in this role plays a much larger and significant role in as a manager of human resources understanding the learners, their abilities, who they should work…
